What we need
We are looking for generous volunteers to act as the Temple of Community Sohei out on the playa. The sohei (pronounced “SO-HEY”) were the warrior monks who maintained and protected temples around the Kyoto area during the Japanese feudal era. On the playa, the sohei will spend a few hours at the Temple of Community site playing the role of gentle protectors of both the structure and its participants.
When we need it
We are planning volunteer shifts from Monday to Saturday during the event. The shifts will be 3 hours and will run from 9pm to 6am. We know it is very difficult to plan things while out on the playa, (especially when we’re not even there yet!), but if you feel even the slightest inkling that this is something you’d like to do, please contact us. We’ll do our best to work to build a schedule that works for everyone.
